Kendo Academies and Mills Now Accept Onnuri Gift Certificates

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced that Minister Oh Young-joo visited Tongin Market in Seoul on the 11th to check the current status of the expanded business sectors accepting Onnuri gift certificates.


Following the enforcement on the 10th of the revised "Enforcement Decree of the Special Act on the Promotion of Traditional Markets and Shopping Districts," which significantly relaxes restrictions on businesses affiliated with Onnuri gift certificates, Minister Oh inspected stores newly included as places where Onnuri gift certificates can be used.

The operator of a Kendo academy visited that day said, "Although it is not yet clear if this will immediately translate into sales, it will definitely serve as a significant marketing effect for consumers receiving discount benefits."


Minister Oh stated, "Through the unprecedented maximum discounts and expanded usage of Onnuri gift certificates, I hope vitality will be restored throughout traditional markets and alley-type shopping districts ahead of Chuseok."


Meanwhile, as the existing special discount sale of Onnuri gift certificates sold out within three days, the government has been conducting an additional special discount sale of Onnuri gift certificates since the 9th, and until the 15th, a Chuseok traditional market Onnuri gift certificate refund event is also being held at traditional markets nationwide, which is expected to further increase customers using traditional markets and alley-type shopping districts.
