Creating Natural Recreation Forests at Suraksan and Gwanaksan... Walking Trails · Accommodation Facilities Included

A natural recreation forest will be established on Gwanaksan Mountain.

It will be the second in Seoul, following the Suraksan Natural Recreation Forest in Nowon-gu.

Chairman Im Man-gyun of the Seoul Metropolitan Council's Environment and Water Resources Committee (Democratic Party, Gwanak 3) visited the site planned for the Gwanaksan Neighborhood Park Natural Recreation Forest project, jointly promoted by Seoul City and Gwanak-gu, on September 6 during the 326th extraordinary session field inspection schedule.

The "Gwanaksan Natural Recreation Forest Establishment" project is being promoted following a joint forest project agreement between Seoul City and the Korea Forest Service, and Seoul City is advancing it as part of the "Hub-type Forest Leisure Facility Development" project.

The "Gwanaksan Natural Recreation Forest" is the second natural recreation forest selected in Seoul, consisting of walking trails, accommodation facilities, and more to allow visitors to experience the beautiful nature of Gwanaksan Mountain. It is scheduled to be completed in 2026.

After receiving a business report from the Gwanak-gu Parks and Leisure Bureau (Leisure and Urban Division), which is promoting the project, Chairman Im Man-gyun requested active cooperation and support from Seoul City, specifically from Director Lee Soo-yeon of the Garden City Bureau, who attended the site together, to ensure smooth progress and successful completion of the project. He also ordered the establishment of a promotion system that enables close cooperation among Gwanak-gu, Seoul City, and the Seoul Metropolitan Council.

Chairman Im Man-gyun indicated the need to expand projects related to "forest healing" and "forest trails" associated with the "natural recreation forest" so that all Seoul citizens can access forest culture and forest recreation, ultimately contributing to emotional cultivation and health promotion.
