Busan Transportation Corporation Launches Contactless System
AI Interpretation to Text... Pilot Operation Before Expansion
Foreigners using Busan Metro Line 1 Busan Station will now receive the nation's first simultaneous interpretation service.
Busan Transportation Corporation (President Lee Byungjin) announced on the 11th that it will pilot the 'Non-face-to-face Simultaneous Interpretation System (TransTalker)' at Busan Metro Line 1 Busan Station to enhance convenience and accessibility for foreign visitors to Busan.
This system allows foreigners and station staff to speak in their native languages to the device, which then automatically interprets and displays the translated text on the device screen.
The supported languages are English, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, Malaysian, Arabic, French, German, Russian, Spanish, and Korean, totaling 13 languages.
This system is the first in the country to apply non-face-to-face technology. Foreigners visiting Busan Station can conveniently communicate with station staff in real time from the waiting area without having to visit the station safety office.
Lee Byungjin, President of Busan Transportation Corporation, said, "Busan Station is frequently used by foreigners, and I am pleased that we can provide a convenient metro experience through smooth communication with people of various nationalities." He added, "We will continue to expand the application of advanced ICT technology to various fields so that both domestic and foreign passengers can use the metro more conveniently."
