Recently Changed Profile for 'High School Graduation Equivalency Exam'
Singer Insooni (real name Kim In-soon) obtained her high school graduation equivalency at the age of 67.
Insooni took the high school graduation equivalency exam this year and is reported to have received the passing notification on the 30th of last month.
On the 9th, Insooni shared her profile picture posted on a portal site on her social networking service (SNS) with the caption "Finding what has changed." The profile showed that her education had changed from "Graduated from Cheongsan Middle School" to "High School Graduation Equivalency." Insooni shared the news of passing the high school equivalency exam with hashtags such as "courage."
Musical actor Kim Ho-young commented on Insooni’s passing news, saying, “Congratulations!! You’re awesome!” Fans also showed support with responses like “So cool” and “Congratulations.” One netizen said, "I’m also embarrassed, but after 15 years of marriage, I received middle and high school graduation certificates through the equivalency exam," adding, "I am more grateful that it’s not too late and that I have not stopped learning."
Insooni was born in 1957 to a Black U.S. military father stationed in Korea and a Korean mother. Raised by her single mother during her childhood, Insooni was unable to attend high school after graduating from middle school due to difficult family circumstances and had to work to support her livelihood.
Previously, Insooni confessed, “Actually, my education level is middle school, not high school.” Although her profile at the time introduced her as a high school graduate, her final education was Cheongsan Middle School, and she personally corrected this, which became a topic of discussion.
Insooni debuted in 1978 as part of the three-member girl group ‘Hee Sisters’ and has been active as a solo singer since 1981. She gained great love from the public with hit songs such as “The One Who Must Leave,” “Every Night,” “Beautiful Our Country,” and “Dream of a Goose.”
