Ozone Advisory Issued for Southern Region Following Central and Eastern Gyeonggi Areas
The ozone advisory issued for 15 districts in the northeastern and southwestern areas of Seoul was lifted as of 5 p.m. on the 10th.
The Ministry of Environment and the Korea Environment Corporation announced that the ozone advisory for 15 districts in the northeastern and southwestern areas of Seoul has been lifted. The affected districts are Gwangjin-gu, Seongdong-gu, Jungnang-gu, Dongdaemun-gu, Seongbuk-gu, Dobong-gu, Gangbuk-gu, Nowon-gu, Gangseo-gu, Guro-gu, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Dongjak-gu, Gwanak-gu, Geumcheon-gu, and Yangcheon-gu.
The hourly average ozone concentration in the lifted areas was 0.1175 ppm (parts per million) in the northeastern area and 0.1118 ppm in the southwestern area as of 5 p.m.
An ozone advisory is issued when the 1-hour average ozone (O₃) concentration in the air reaches 0.12 ppm or higher, an ozone warning at 0.30 ppm or higher, and an ozone severe warning at 0.50 ppm or higher.
At the same time, an ozone advisory was issued for five cities in the southern Gyeonggi area. The affected cities are Yongin, Pyeongtaek, Icheon, Anseong, and Yeoju. The hourly average ozone concentration in the advisory area was recorded at 0.1200 ppm as of 5 p.m.
Previously, ozone advisories had also been issued for 11 cities in the central region and 7 cities/counties in the eastern region.
