Promoting Traditional Market Use and Stabilizing Prices
On September 9, Yangsan City in Gyeongnam held a campaign to promote the use of traditional markets and stabilize prices ahead of the Chuseok holiday at Deokgye General Permanent Market, with over 30 participants including Mayor Na Dongyeon, the Deokgye Market Merchants Association, consumer groups, price monitoring agents, and relevant public officials.
Yangsan City (Na Dongyeon, Mayor of Yangsan, 5th from the left in the front row) conducted a price stabilization campaign by visiting traditional markets for Chuseok.
Mayor Na Dongyeon visited the traditional market, which was bustling for the first time in a while due to the Chuseok holiday, and purchased holiday essentials using Onnuri gift certificates. He also extended holiday greetings to merchants struggling with the ongoing economic downturn and rising prices, and checked the prices of essential goods. The purchased items will be donated to local social welfare facilities.
Yangsan City has designated the Chuseok Holiday Price Stabilization Special Measures Period (August 21 to September 18) to intensively monitor and manage unfair business practices in various sectors, including trends in holiday essential goods prices, price labeling, origin labeling inspections, food hygiene, and crackdowns on illegal distribution of livestock and food products.
Mayor Na Dongyeon said, "We prepared this campaign to revitalize the local community and merchants who are struggling due to long-term economic stagnation and rising prices, and to help the local economy." He added, "I hope everyone will have a happy holiday by actively participating in revitalizing the local economy through purchasing quality agricultural and specialty products, as well as ritual goods, at traditional markets."
