Mapo-gu Activates 'Emergency Health and Medical Care System' to Minimize Medical Service Gaps During Chuseok

Mapo-gu Public Health Center Establishes Emergency Medical Response Situation Room and Emergency Medical Team, Continues Infectious Disease Surveillance

Mapo-gu (District Mayor Park Gang-su) will activate an emergency health and medical care system from September 14 to September 18 during the Chuseok holiday period to prepare for the occurrence of emergency patients.

As this is the first major holiday since the departure of residents in training at the end of February 2024, concerns among residents about medical gaps in emergency rooms and other facilities have grown, prompting Mapo-gu to prepare more meticulous measures.

The Mapo-gu Public Health Center will designate on-duty hospitals and clinics open during the Chuseok holiday to provide medical support such as emergency patient treatment. In addition, holiday duty pharmacies will be operated to allow safe purchase of medicines under the guidance of pharmacists.

Information about on-duty hospitals and clinics, as well as holiday duty pharmacies, can be found on the Mapo-gu website, the Mapo-gu Public Health Center website, the Emergency Medical Portal, or the Emergency Medical Information mobile app.

An emergency medical response situation room will be set up at the Public Health Center. The situation room will guide residents to medical institutions and pharmacies that are available for treatment and check their operational status. It will also handle civil complaints and perform emergency contact duties in case of urgent situations.

Furthermore, the Public Health Center will strengthen the medical care system by establishing an emergency medical team. The medical team, composed of three members including doctors and nurses, will provide primary treatment and prescriptions for chronic disease patients such as hypertension, diabetes, and dyslipidemia. The operation period is from September 16 to September 18 during the Chuseok holiday, and the operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The infectious disease surveillance situation room will also monitor and respond to occurrences of waterborne and foodborne diseases, COVID-19, and other infectious diseases during the holiday period.

Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “We are doing our best to ensure that residents can spend the Chuseok holiday, the greatest holiday of our nation, safely and healthily,” adding, “We will strengthen the emergency health and medical care system during the holiday period to alleviate residents’ concerns and minimize medical gaps.”
