Application of Joint Extortion Charges under the Act on the Punishment of Violent Crimes
The police have applied for arrest warrants for two women who extorted over 200 million won from YouTuber Jjuyang through threats.
On the 9th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced that they had applied for arrest warrants against a woman in her 20s, Ms. A, and a woman in her 30s, Ms. B, on charges of violating the Act on Punishment of Violent Crimes (joint extortion) for threatening Jjuyang.
The two are accused of extorting 216 million won from Jjuyang by threatening to expose her private life from June 2021 to November of the following year.
Earlier, a close acquaintance of Jjuyang filed a complaint with the police against the two women in July.
The pre-arrest detention hearing for Ms. A and Ms. B is scheduled to be held at 10:40 a.m. on the 10th at the Seoul Central District Court.
