Japan's ONE Collaborates with Taiwan's Yang Ming as Is
Partners with MSC on European Routes via Slot Exchange Method
The existing shipping alliance that HMM belonged to, 'The Alliance,' will be renamed 'Premier Alliance.' While maintaining the existing cooperation system with Japan's ONE and Taiwan's Yang Ming, the somewhat lacking European routes will be developed in cooperation with MSC, the world's number one shipping company, to build a route network.
HMM announced on the 9th that it has newly formed the new cooperative system called 'Premier Alliance.'
The members of the new shipping alliance are ONE and Yang Ming. The shipping companies that remained from 'The Alliance,' after the departure of Germany's Hapag-Lloyd, ranked in the world's top 5 shipping companies, have stayed the same with only the name changed. The cooperation period is five years starting from February 2025.
The main routes of Premier Alliance consist of Asia to the US West Coast, Asia to the US East Coast, Asia to the Mediterranean, Asia to Europe, and Asia to the Middle East, connecting east-west routes. The service scope and detailed schedule will be announced later.
An HMM official stated, "Through strategic and long-term collaboration, we plan to expand the global network scope and continuously provide stable logistics services."
Additionally, HMM has decided to cooperate with MSC, the world's number one shipping company based in Switzerland, on Asia-Europe routes through a slot exchange system. The target areas include a total of nine services on Asia-Northern Europe and Mediterranean routes. The cooperation will last for four years starting from February next year. Through this, they plan to provide direct sailing services to a wider range of ports.
