Kim Seong-jung, the First Deputy Governor of Gyeonggi Province, is holding a press conference on the 'K-Content Complex Cultural Park Development Project' at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government briefing room on the 9th.
Gyeonggi Province announced that CJ has notified the province of the termination of the agreement regarding the ‘Goyang K-Culture Valley’. CJ also added on its official website that it will actively cooperate with Gyeonggi Province to normalize the project without filing a lawsuit to invalidate the agreement.
On the 9th, Kim Seong-jung, the First Deputy Governor of Gyeonggi Province, held a press conference at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government briefing room and stated, "On September 5th, CJ Live City sent an official letter to Gyeonggi Province titled ‘Notice of Termination of the Basic Agreement for the K-Culture Valley Complex Development Project’."
He continued, "CJ announced on its website that since a lawsuit could take more than five years, they will actively negotiate with Gyeonggi Province to normalize the project without filing a lawsuit to invalidate the agreement."
Deputy Governor Kim explained, "This means that CJ acknowledges the termination of the agreement for the K-Culture Valley project, so the obstacles to the project currently promoted by Gyeonggi Province have been removed. We have regained ownership of the commercial land that was sold, allowing the K-Culture Valley project to proceed as originally planned, as desired by the citizens of Goyang."
He added, "To achieve this, the budget for the return payment of the commercial land must first be allocated. This is not simply for Gyeonggi Province to reclaim the land, but to fulfill the hopes of the citizens of Goyang and the province."
Deputy Governor Kim also requested cooperation from the Gyeonggi Provincial Council.
He said, "Yesterday, through a residents’ briefing session attended by about 250 Goyang citizens, Gyeonggi Province explained its position on CJ’s notice of agreement termination and the future plans for the K-Culture Valley project. We will continue to actively communicate with residents."
Furthermore, he stated, "Gyeonggi Province will now make every effort to promptly advance the K-Culture Valley project. We will establish a new master plan for the K-Culture Valley project as soon as possible and announce it to the citizens of Goyang and the residents of the province."
