Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) will operate special programs to help single-person households spend a happy and abundant Chuseok holiday.
The Seongdong-gu Single-Person Household Support Center (Majaeng-ro 39-gil 31), which opened in August 2022, runs various programs to promote a healthy and balanced life for single-person households, including health promotion, mental health recovery, and relationship building. During this Chuseok holiday period, special programs have been prepared so that single-person households do not feel isolated and can experience the warm spirit of the holiday.
On the first day of the holiday, September 14, the "Green Hajang Chuseok" event will be held. The "Green Hajang" festival, themed around eco-friendliness, will feature an exchange market for eco-friendly foods and goods. Traditional games and a Chuseok food tasting corner, where participants can enjoy the festive atmosphere, will also be available. Points will be awarded for participating in various events, and accumulated points can be exchanged for modumjeon meal kits, allowing each household to enjoy a plentiful holiday.
From September 16 to 18, the "Chuseok Matjip Social Dining" program will be held, where participants cook traditional holiday foods together and communicate. The program is divided by age groups: youth (30?39 years), middle-aged (40?64 years), and seniors (65 years and older). Participants will share cooking methods while preparing traditional holiday dishes together. A separate time for dining and conversation will also be provided, offering a great opportunity to build mutual bonds.
The Chuseok holiday programs can be joined by applying through the Seongdong-gu Single-Person Household Support Center website or by phone.
Jeong Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, stated, "I hope everyone can have a joyful and happy Chuseok through the Seongdong-gu Single-Person Household Support Center’s holiday programs," and added, "We will continue to promote various support policies for the healthy daily lives of single-person households."
