Safety inspections for fire and resolution of parking issues... Measures prepared for the safety and convenience of traditional market visitors
Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Jun-hee) is preparing various benefits and attractions at traditional markets for the upcoming Chuseok holiday, aiming to simultaneously revitalize the local economy and satisfy residents.
The district will provide a total of 135 million KRW in support to 12 traditional markets and alley-type shopping districts within the area for merchants and residents during this Chuseok holiday season.
Tailored to the characteristics of each traditional market and alley shopping district, a variety of benefits and attractions have been arranged, including ▲up to 10% discount on ritual offerings ▲gift certificates based on purchase amounts ▲roulette events ▲cultural performances, and more.
The district has also prepared diverse experiential events such as ▲performances by local young artists ▲resident talent shows ▲beer festivals, allowing people to enjoy a warm and joyful holiday atmosphere in advance.
Since the discount benefit events and various event periods differ by market, detailed information can be confirmed by contacting each traditional market merchants' association.
Additionally, to ensure a safe Chuseok holiday, the district will conduct joint public-private safety inspections targeting traditional markets in the area.
Due to the nature of traditional markets, where stores are densely packed in narrow alleys, they are vulnerable to fires, and the sudden increase in visitors during Chuseok raises the risk of safety accidents.
Accordingly, the district will carry out joint inspections with private experts in the fields of ▲firefighting ▲electricity ▲gas ▲construction, and any deficiencies found during inspections will be immediately repaired and reinforced.
The district has also prepared special measures to resolve parking difficulties at traditional markets, providing practical assistance to market merchants and visitors.
Parking enforcement will be relaxed on roads near traditional markets, and roads near Gwanak Jungbu Market will be temporarily designated as parking zones. The No. 1 public parking lots in Seowon-dong and Samsung-dong will be opened free of charge, alleviating the difficulties residents faced in using traditional markets due to parking issues and improving accessibility to the markets.
District Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “In this era of high prices, we have prepared various commercial district revitalization policies to satisfy both market merchants and customers,” adding, “We hope that everyone can prepare for the holiday affordably and enjoyably at traditional markets enriched with various benefits and attractions.”
