Agency Calls It "Clear Falsehood"... Warns of Potential Harm
Recently, the agency has taken legal action in response to the continuous spread of fake news related to illegal publications impersonating the father of Jennie from the group BLACKPINK.
On the 6th, Jennie's agency OA Entertainment stated on their official Twitter, "Recently, illegal publications and fake news containing false information impersonating the artist's father have been continuously circulated," adding, "We clearly state that these are blatant falsehoods and have absolutely no connection to the artist." They continued, "Please be cautious when purchasing illegal publications and take special care not to suffer any damage related to this matter," and also said, "We are taking legal measures such as criminal complaints based on defamation and obstruction of business against the distributors of these falsehoods through our law firm."
Recently, online posts rapidly spread claiming that Jennie's biological father published an AI novel, in which BLACKPINK appears partially. Netizens are sharing claims based on the author introduction in the book description, asserting that the person claiming to be Jennie's biological father is a second-generation member of a major corporation and suffered trauma from an incident involving a dead ball thrown during a little league baseball game.
Jennie has previously emphasized her close relationship with her mother, stating, "My family is just my mom and me," without mentioning her father's existence. Therefore, the mere inclusion of unknown information about Jennie's biological father in these posts drew significant attention from netizens.
As public interest grew, Jennie's side took legal action against the individual in question while urging fans to be cautious to avoid harm.
The agency stated, "We are taking legal action against those who write malicious posts involving defamation, sexual harassment, and malicious slander based on false information about the artist," adding, "Such acts are clear crimes, and we inform you that we will continue to take strong legal measures without leniency based on the collected evidence. We will continue to do our best to protect the rights and interests of our artists."
Jennie ended her exclusive contract with YG Entertainment last December and established the one-person agency OA Entertainment with her mother to continue her individual activities.
