User experience (UX) innovation company builder (startup founding and nurturing company) 'Companoid Labs' announced on the 6th that it is "making a new leap forward by transitioning to a holding company system."
Officially established in March 2021, Companoid Labs has been actively operating for three and a half years under the leadership of Chairman Jang Jin-gyu, a Ph.D. in hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) and a known startup investor. Chairman Jang currently serves as an Operating Partner at Asia2G Capital, a venture capital (VC) firm in Silicon Valley, USA, where he also invests in and advises startups expanding from Korea to the United States.
Companoid Labs has achieved an average corporate value increase of 423.33% for eight startups. Notably, the survival rate of startups built by the company builder reached 77.8%. Most teams, which started with 2 to 3 members, hired an additional 67 talents, achieving more than triple the total recruitment.
This transition to a holding company is aimed at growth and focus on internally conducted projects. In particular, Companoid Institute of Technology (CIT), which served as both an HCI research lab and talent development company, has become a wholly owned subsidiary. The establishment of 'Companoid AI,' an artificial intelligence (AI) interface technology company, is underway, and investment attraction is in progress.
Additionally, the company-building function within the holding company has been reorganized into 'ANGLE Studio,' divided into the first and second halves of the year, and a company-building program will be operated based on this. The plan is to build a company-building program that approaches the discovery and resolution of ultra-early-stage problems in startups with a more user-centered approach.
To this end, Senior Partner Yoon Hyung-geun has also rejoined. Partner Yoon, a founding member of Companoid Labs, developed the ephemeral social networking service (SNS) 'Haru' in 2014 with sponsorship from Naver. Over the past three years, he conducted research on AI-based military software and algorithm development at the Agency for Defense Development (ADD). Through this rejoining, Partner Yoon will serve as Senior Partner and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) within the holding company. Senior Partner Park Min-ah, who was responsible for company building at Companoid Labs, has been promoted to Vice President. Vice President Park Min-ah is known as the most outstanding generative AI prompting expert in Korea.
The transition of Companoid Labs to a holding company is expected to be completed by the end of this month. Chairman Jang stated, "We are already in discussions with investors who will invest in interface technology leading UX innovation in the AI field. Visible investments will be made soon." He added, "As steady achievements in talent development have recently emerged, we are expanding our scope of cooperation with related startups and institutions such as Modu Research Institute, so future business performance is expected."
