The donation ceremony was attended by Changwon Special City Mayor Hong Nam-pyo, Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Choi Jaeho, the Second Vice Mayor, and five other officials. The donated funds will be used to support the shops damaged in the market fire.
Chairman Choi stated, "Recently, the closure of Lotte Department Store Masan Branch has led to an economic downturn in the Masan area, and now with the fire at Masan Fish Market, I expect the merchants are facing even greater concerns. I hope the market merchants can overcome these difficult times and return to their daily lives as soon as possible."
In response, Mayor Hong said, "Thank you to the Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry for donating funds to support the shops affected by the fire. The city will also do its best to help with the recovery efforts."
