On the 5th, POSCO announced that it received the Excellent Performance Institution Award and the Autonomous Joint Training Center Plaque at the Excellent Joint Training Center Awards Ceremony held on the 4th at the Garden Hotel in Mapo-gu, Seoul.
The National Human Resources Development Consortium is a government-supported project that provides field-customized training to employees of small and medium-sized enterprises by utilizing the training infrastructure of large corporations. The Ministry of Employment and Labor designates participating companies and institutions as joint training centers and supports training costs. It also comprehensively evaluates training performance, the expertise of dedicated personnel, and training satisfaction to select the top 20% of institutions as Autonomous Joint Training Centers.
POSCO has been selected as an Autonomous Joint Training Center for 12 consecutive years since 2013, the longest period among participating institutions. Since 2019, the ministry has selected excellent joint training centers annually, and POSCO has received the highest rating in every evaluation year.
Last year, POSCO conducted technical job training and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) competency enhancement training for 22,182 employees from 522 partner companies, subcontractors, and service providers. Since the introduction of the consortium training project in 2005, the total number of people trained by POSCO has reached approximately 690,000 across 2,092 companies.
POSCO plans to donate the entire incentive of 15 million KRW, awarded for the highest evaluation, to the POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation to contribute to the local community.
Yang Byung-ho, Head of POSCO's Management Support Division, said, "We will continue to promote human resource development for partner companies and SMEs through various competency development projects in cooperation with the government and realize shared value between large and small-medium enterprises."
