On the 4th, SK Telecom announced this at a press conference held at the SUPEX Hall in SKT Tower, Jung-gu, Seoul, together with Aravind Srinivas, co-founder and CEO of Perplexity.
Perplexity, which processes over 210 million search requests monthly and provides AI search services in more than 50 countries worldwide, ranked first overall in chatbot usability evaluations announced by The Wall Street Journal in May.
CEO Srinivas said, "Perplexity's search engine is used daily by Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, and renowned investor Stanley Druckenmiller," adding, "We aim to offer SK Telecom subscribers benefits worth $20 per month (approximately 27,000 KRW) so they can save valuable time by searching with AI just like billionaires."
He emphasized, "If the past 20 years were the era of search engines, now is the era of answer engines," and explained, "The inconvenience of having to look through every page returned by a search is solved by AI answer engines that select and summarize only personalized, tailored information."
SK Telecom and Perplexity announced plans to collaborate on technology support, joint marketing, and investment to launch SK Telecom's AI agent service, A. (A-dot), in the global market. As of the end of last month, A-dot has surpassed 5 million domestic subscribers.
SK Telecom CEO Yoo Young-sang said, "We recognize that AI search functions play a very important role in saving modern people's time," and added, "We will change the paradigm of the search market based on the Perplexity service, which provides comprehensive answers reflecting the latest trends."
