Tetsuo Ogawa, President and CEO of Toyota North America, attended the '2nd Korea-US-Japan Economic Dialogue' held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, on the 4th, and told reporters, "We talked about hydrogen and autonomous driving fields with Hyundai Motor."
On the same day, President Tetsuo had a conversation with Jose Munoz, Hyundai Motor's Global Chief Operating Officer (COO) and President of the North America Division. It is known that they discussed future cooperation regions and other matters. He said, "(With COO Munoz) we did not make any official promises, but we are in Texas and he is in California, so we can meet anytime."
Earlier in the morning, COO Munoz told reporters that he would "not comment" on cooperation with Toyota North America.
However, COO Munoz said about the clean energy business plan, "The three countries Korea, the US, and Japan are cooperating very well," and added, "We plan to strengthen the agenda (Energy Mobilizer) announced at the CEO Investor Day."
Hyundai recently held the '2024 CEO Investor Day' for investors and announced that it will increase the number of electric vehicle models to 21 by 2030. It also introduced the 'Energy Mobilizer' strategy to prepare for the transition to a hydrogen society.
However, Chung Eui-sun, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, who attended the dialogue, remained silent about his meeting with Akio Toyoda, Chairman of Toyota Group. He left without saying anything in response to related questions.
