Opening of Clinical Bio-Medical Convergence Education and Research Facilities

Pusan National University (President Choi Jaewon) held an opening ceremony for the 'Glocal Clinical Validation Center,' established for clinical-linked convergence education and research in biomedical science, at the Convergence Medical Research Building of Pusan National University Hospital in Amidong, Busan, on the 3rd, and officially began its operation.

The opening ceremony was attended by Choi Jaewon, President of Pusan National University, Jung Sungwoon, Director of Pusan National University Hospital, Gong Hansu, Mayor of Seo-gu, Busan, Seo Yongcheol, Director of Busan Institute for Science and Technology Promotion, as well as officials from Busan Metropolitan City and Busan Technopark. They congratulated the opening of the center and expressed their expectations for the advancement of local healthcare.

The 'Glocal Clinical Validation Center' is a simulation-linked training space that provides an open environment not only for members of Pusan National University but also for researchers in related fields from other local institutions. It is expected to contribute to the mutual growth of the university and the region by supporting specialized medical education and research.

With the establishment of this center, Pusan National University expects to foster talent in the specialized field of convergent biomedical science, as well as to demonstrate and pilot the safety and efficacy of medical devices in actual clinical settings. This will help identify unmet medical needs, enable early treatment, improve prognoses, and contribute to the innovative development of local healthcare.

As part of Pusan National University's Glocal University Project, the newly opened 'Glocal Clinical Validation Center' is an advanced educational facility designed to enable education and training based on simulations that replicate real hospital environments.

The center, newly established on the first floor of Building S at Pusan National University Hospital with an area of approximately 809.8㎡, consists of eight educational facilities: ▲Medical Living Lab ▲OR Simulation Room ▲ICU Simulation Room ▲Hybrid Room ▲Practice Rooms 1 and 2 ▲Studio ▲Multipurpose Education Room.

In the Medical Living Lab, practical training and validation are conducted through the use of various medical devices, user suitability testing, and clinical trials. The OR and ICU Simulation Rooms replicate actual operating room and intensive care unit environments, enabling clinical practice education tailored to each patient and situation.

Additionally, the center is equipped with practice rooms for simulation-based training in endoscopy and ultrasound, a studio for video lectures and conferences, and multipurpose educational spaces for students in interdisciplinary majors and the Graduate School of Convergent Biomedical Science.

At the opening ceremony, Choi Jaewon, President of Pusan National University, stated, "Through the support of our university and hospital's excellent research personnel, equipment, and clinical resources, we can promote the growth of biomedical companies while also fostering job creation and talent development."

Jung Sungwoon, Director of Pusan National University Hospital, said, "I hope the Glocal Clinical Validation Center will be successfully established so that many researchers and medical professionals can achieve innovative research and education here, greatly contributing to the advancement of both local and global healthcare."

Gong Hansu, Mayor of Seo-gu, Busan, also expressed his expectations, saying, "By spreading the achievements of this project to neighboring areas, we can attract companies, bring in talent, and promote investment, thereby revitalizing this area as a future hub for Busan's economic growth."
