Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 4th that it has signed a business agreement with Suju High School to apply for the 'Autonomous Public High School 2.0' project.
The Autonomous Public High School 2.0 project is an initiative launched by the Ministry of Education this year to foster outstanding talents and enhance local educational capabilities by allowing schools to operate distinctive and autonomous curricula in collaboration with local governments, universities, and companies.
If selected for this project, schools will be granted academic privileges such as a non-grade system, early admission and graduation, along with autonomy to operate curricula at the level of specialized high schools and autonomous private high schools. Additionally, they will receive an annual budget support of 200 million KRW from the Ministry of Education and the Office of Education for five years.

The second round of public recruitment was held this year, and Bucheon City signed an agreement with Suju High School to apply for the third round. They plan to apply for the Autonomous Public High School 2.0 project under the theme of "Cultivating Glocal (global+local) Talents with Digital Creative Convergence Competencies."
Through the agreement, Bucheon City and Suju High School will operate a distinctive and autonomous curriculum unique to autonomous public high schools for the next five years, provide support for cultivating glocal talents, and share matters related to the operation and outcomes of the autonomous public high school.
Jo Yong-ik, Mayor of Bucheon City, stated, "I hope that Suju High School will be selected for the Autonomous Public High School 2.0 project and establish itself as a prestigious school in the region, providing better educational opportunities to students." He added, "We will actively support students so that they can grow into talents who lead the future."
