Non-Major Selection Only in Regular Admissions
Reducing Burden of Essay Excellence Track for Differentiation
Sahmyook University will select 805 students in this year's early admission. In particular, it applied the 'short-answer essay' method and lowered the reflection rate of school records to reduce the burden on applicants.
The number of students admitted within the quota is 766, and outside the quota is 39. Looking at the detailed selection types, among the comprehensive student record screening, the Seum Injae (Comprehensive) selection will admit the largest number of 205 students in this year's early admission. In the first stage, four times the number of candidates are selected based on 100% document evaluation, and in the second stage, the first stage score (60%) and interview (40%) are combined for final selection. The minimum CSAT score requirement for the Seum Injae selection applies only to the Department of Pharmacy. Applicants must have a combined score within grade 5 in three subjects among Korean, English, Mathematics (Calculus or Geometry), and Science Exploration (1 subject).
The School Principal Recommendation selection, which is based on student record grades, will admit 165 students. This selection is based 100% on student record grades, reflecting grades from the first semester of 1st year to the first semester of 3rd year without weighting by grade level. Applicants must be recommended by their high school principal, but there is no limit on the number of recommendations per high school.
The Department of Physical Education and the Department of Art and Design also reflect practical skills scores. The Department of Physical Education combines 40% student record and 60% practical skills, while the Department of Art and Design combines 20% student record and 80% practical skills.
The minimum CSAT score requirement for the School Principal Recommendation selection is as follows: for general departments, a combined score within grade 7 in two subjects among Korean, English, Mathematics, and Exploration (1 subject); for the Department of Nursing and the Department of Physical Therapy, a combined score within grade 6 in two subjects; and for the Department of Pharmacy, a combined score within grade 5 in three subjects among Korean, English, Mathematics (Calculus or Geometry), and Science Exploration (1 subject). The Departments of Physical Education and Art and Design have no minimum CSAT score requirement.
The newly established Essay Excellence selection from last year will admit 127 students. This selection combines 30% student record and 70% essay test scores. The student record reflects all subjects' grades from the first semester of 1st year to the first semester of 3rd year without weighting by grade level. The relatively low 30% reflection rate of student records and the short-answer essay format of the essay test are notable features.
The Department of Pharmacy will admit a total of 15 students in this year's early admission: 4 through the Seum Injae (Comprehensive) selection, 3 through the School Principal Recommendation (Student Record) selection, 3 through the Seventh-day Adventist Church Pastor Recommendation (Comprehensive) selection, 3 through the Opportunity Equalization II selection (outside quota), and 2 through the Special Education Target selection (outside quota). Cross-application is possible for all selection types.
The selection for 'Interdisciplinary Major (No Major)' is conducted only in the regular admission.
