2022-2023-2024, Summer Filled with Special Exhibitions
Happiness, Relaxation, and Joy for Citizens, Busan's Signature Summer Content
The F1963 Special Exhibition, organized by the Busan Cultural Foundation (CEO Lee Miyeon), successfully concluded on August 25, attracting over 24,500 visitors.
This exhibition, completed together with the thoughts of 14 artists from various generations and regions as well as the audience, received enthusiastic responses as it filled the summer with diverse perspectives.
Starting in 2022 with "We Also Need a Summer Vacation," the F1963 Summer Special Exhibition by the Busan Cultural Foundation has been held for three consecutive years, including "Our Summer Story" in 2023 and this year’s event, drawing about 70,000 visitors in total.
Planned around the familiar and everyday theme of summer, the exhibition aimed to provide citizens with relaxation, healing, and new memories during the hot summer days.
The Summer Special Exhibition has become a must-visit cultural and artistic space in summer, featuring various interactive artworks related to the season, experiential zones within the exhibition hall, and craft experience programs held every weekend, establishing itself as one of Busan’s representative summer contents.
This year in particular, the exhibition was introduced as an experiential event where visitors could feel the essence of summer on over 40 official Busan city and tourism SNS channels.
The inaugural 2022 exhibition, "We Also Need a Summer Vacation," offered a complete break and joy-filled summer vacation to those living repetitive days in their busy lives, workplaces, homes, childcare, and studies. In addition to visual artists, illustrators and local bookstores participated, providing visitors with unique cultural and artistic experiences. The exhibition concluded successfully with about 23,500 visitors.
The 2023 special exhibition, "Our Summer Story," shared happy summer memories and delivered "healing and rest" to visitors through summer-themed artworks. Various perspectives on summer?landscapes, memories, contemplation, and reflection?were presented through paintings, installations, and hands-on experiences, attracting about 21,000 visitors.
This year, the theme of "summer," which can be described in many ways, was expressed through various forms of artwork, presenting the diverse faces of the season. Visitors also contributed by filling in one of the "OO Summer" titles, collectively completing 15 variations and creating unique memories for those who attended.
What particularly distinguishes the Busan Cultural Foundation F1963 Summer Special Exhibition from others is the visitor participation zone and the craft experience programs linked to the exhibition. The participation zone, filled with books, music, games, and photo spots related to summer, offered a wide range of enjoyable activities and was constantly bustling with visitors.
Additionally, the craft experience programs provided visitors with the opportunity to directly engage in artistic activities, stimulating their artistic senses. By offering both things to see and do, the exhibition received high praise from attendees.
Heo Jangsu, head of the Cultural Space Team at the Busan Cultural Foundation, stated, "We plan to continue offering exhibitions filled with diverse and entertaining content, providing Busan citizens with opportunities to enjoy culture and the arts, so we ask for your continued interest."
The F1963 Special Exhibition, held over the past three years, has been archived in 3D and is available for online viewing through the Busan Cultural Foundation website.
