'I'm Hero' Weekend Sales Revenue Share 23.7%
The Hollywood sci-fi film "Alien: Romulus" has held the top spot at the weekend box office for three consecutive weeks.
According to the Korea Film Council's integrated ticketing system on the 2nd, over the past weekend (August 30 to September 1), "Alien: Romulus" (directed by Fede Alvarez) attracted 223,216 viewers, securing first place at the box office. Its revenue share was 20.8%. Since its release on the 14th, it has accumulated a total audience of 1,636,714. The comedy film "Pilot," starring Jo Jung-suk and directed by Kim Han-gyeol, drew 147,949 viewers, ranking second. Released on July 31, it has surpassed a cumulative audience of 4,508,850.
The live concert film of singer Lim Young-woong's Seoul performance, "Lim Young-woong│I'm Hero The Stadium," attracted 87,410 viewers, debuting at third place on its opening weekend. A total of 161,426 people have watched the film. Although it ranks third in the box office, its revenue share is 23.7%, the highest among all films. Released on the 28th of last month, it recorded cumulative revenue of 4.64143 billion KRW in just five days. This is attributed to a high proportion of viewings in special theaters such as IMAX and ScreenX. According to CGV's ticket reservation analysis, 79.9% of the audience were female and 20.1% male, with 40-50 year-olds overwhelmingly accounting for 67.7% of reservations by age group, followed by those in their 30s (23.3%) and 20s (8.6%).
Ranked fourth was the animation "Sarang-ui Hatchuping" (74,156 viewers), fifth was the Hollywood disaster blockbuster "Twisters" (69,374 viewers), sixth was "Neulbom Garden" (66,404 viewers), and seventh was "Boyhood" (47,277 viewers). The total number of moviegoers over the weekend was 939,381. With summer vacation over and few new releases, the number of theater visitors has decreased.
