Prosecutors Naming 'Suspect Moon Jae-in'... Park Soo-hyun Says "Even After Seeing Roh's History, They Do This"

"Is This a Diversion Because the Current Administration's Approval Rating Is Dropping?"

Park Soo-hyun, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized the prosecution for listing former President Moon Jae-in as a suspect in bribery on the warrant, saying, "Do we have to thoroughly investigate issues related to a former president for two or three years like this?" and "Even after witnessing the unfortunate death of the late former President Roh Moo-hyun, are they doing this again?"

On the 2nd, on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show,' Rep. Park said, "For the late President Roh, who lived with integrity, the so-called 'rice paddy watch' suspicion was an unbearable insult, which ultimately led him down that unfortunate path," adding, "Just as they shook the family of former President Roh at that time to carry out such acts, they are doing the same now. The prosecution cannot break its bad habits."

She also commented on the search and seizure of Moon's daughter, Da-hye, saying, "It is an attempt to humiliate former President Moon and First Lady Kim Jung-sook by putting them on the prosecution's photo line." Rep. Park stated, "The key point in this case is whether former President Moon and his daughter Da-hye's family can be considered an economic community, which is similar to the case involving former lawmaker Kwak Sang-do's son," adding, "In the case of Kwak's son, the court ruled 'not guilty' simply because the son was married and thus considered an independent livelihood, not an economic community. The prosecution is doing this despite knowing full well that the court will acquit."

She continued, "As President Yoon Suk-yeol and First Lady Kim Keon-hee's approval ratings decline due to their issues, they are trying to shift the focus and engage in political retaliation by pulling out problems of the previous administration from the cabinet," adding, "What happened to the investigation into the luxury bag bribery allegations against First Lady Kim? After conducting extravagant business trip investigations and seizing her phone, public opinion worsened, so they are opening a new front to divert attention."

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that the prosecution listed former President Moon as a suspect in bribery on the warrant during the search and seizure of Da-hye's residence in Seoul on the 30th of last month. The prosecution conducted this search as part of an investigation into allegations of preferential hiring of Moon's son-in-law, Seo Mo. The prosecution believes that more than 200 million won in salary and other payments Seo received as an executive director at Thai Starjet, a Thai low-cost airline founded by former lawmaker Lee Sang-jik, constitute bribes to former President Moon.
