New City Bus Route Established Based on Government Office
Operates 8 Times a Day in Each Direction, Total of 16 Runs
Sacheon City in Gyeongnam will add night routes to the city buses serving the Korea AeroSpace Administration.
According to the city on the 2nd, in May, coinciding with the opening of the Korea AeroSpace Administration, new city bus routes 500 and 501 were established, operating a total of 16 times per day (8 times each for the up and down routes) based on the administration building.
These 500 and 501 routes depart from Sacheon Terminal, pass through apartment complexes and elementary, middle, and high schools, and arrive at their main destination, the Korea AeroSpace Administration. However, the last buses for these routes depart at 6:00 PM.
As a result, employees of the Korea AeroSpace Administration have faced difficulties commuting during night shifts due to the lack of bus service, and residents along these routes have also complained of transportation inconvenience due to limited mobility at night.
In response, the city, in consultation with the city bus operator Samsung Point Transportation and union members, decided to add additional night-time services starting from the 1st of this month.
For route 500, which departs from Sacheon Terminal, passes through Samjeong Greencore Apartments, and heads to the Korea AeroSpace Administration, route 500-1 will be added. It will depart Sacheon Terminal at 7:40 PM and arrive at the Korea AeroSpace Administration at 8:00 PM.
For route 501, which departs from the terminal and heads to the Korea AeroSpace Administration via Sido Line 1, route 501-1 will be added, departing at 7:30 PM and arriving at the Korea AeroSpace Administration at 8:00 PM.
The newly added night routes will not include the upper terminal routes heading toward Donggang Atelier Apartments and Sacheon Girls' Middle School and Sacheon High School, as these overlap during night hours and the turnaround points are too narrow, raising safety concerns.
A city official stated, "We would like to thank Samsung Point Transportation and the bus union members for agreeing to add these night services to ensure smooth progress in building an aerospace complex city and to enhance transportation welfare for citizens," adding, "We will continue to implement various transportation policies to prevent inconvenience for citizens."
