Consortium Including FortyTwoMaru, LGU+, and Selvas AI
Collaboratively Develops Assistant Service for Psychological Counselors
AI Summarizes and Analyzes Counseling Content
Generative AI startup FortyTwoMaru announced on the 2nd that it has been selected as the lead organization for the development and demonstration project of a counselor assistance service under the "Super-large AI-based Psychological Care Service Support Project," hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency.
This project will be carried out over 3 years and 6 months until December 2027, with a total budget of 11.29 billion KRW. FortyTwoMaru, as the lead organization, will form an industry-academia-research consortium with LG Uplus, Selvas AI, Dain, Seoul Asan Hospital, Sungshin Women's University, and KAIST Kim Jae-cheol AI Graduate School to execute the project.
Although the demand for psychological counseling is rapidly increasing, the limited number of counselors makes it difficult to meet this demand. This project aims to reduce the workload of psychological counselors through super-large AI and quickly grasp client information via MyData, thereby establishing an expert assistant system for psychological counseling.
FortyTwoMaru developed and applied a fine-tuned small language model (sLLM) specialized in the psychological care domain to conduct the demonstration project. By linking MyData from the financial, telecommunications, and public sectors, the system will instantly understand the client's situation and provide insight functions. The main features of the service include ▲automatic recording and summarization of counseling content ▲analysis of the client's psychological state ▲suggestion of customized counseling directions ▲detection and response to crisis situations.
Consortium participants contribute to the project by leveraging their expertise. LG Uplus is responsible for applying the super-large language model and supporting MyData linkage. Selvas AI develops a specialized psychological counselor platform using voice recognition technology. Dain and Sungshin Women's University collect and provide data from counselors and clients and support demonstration testing. Seoul Asan Hospital provides clinical data and supports demonstrations, while KAIST Kim Jae-cheol AI Graduate School is in charge of developing benchmark datasets and verifying the performance of the super-large language model.
In the early stages of the project, infrastructure will be established to secure training data and develop AI models, followed by phased service planning, beta service launch, demonstration research, and final commercialization. The service is expected to be applied to more than 100 psychological counseling centers during the project period.
Kim Dong-hwan, CEO of FortyTwoMaru, stated, "Starting with this project, we will contribute to improving the quality of life for the public by applying generative AI technology not only in psychological care but also in various other fields."
