On the 1st, Assemblyman Kim stated on his Facebook, "In the last general election, Saeroun Mirae failed to gain public support," adding, "After the election, we aimed for a fundamental reestablishment through reflection and introspection, but we could not reach a consensus."
He continued, "After much consideration, I concluded that staying within the existing framework and practices would not open a new path," and said, "I will contribute to revolutionizing confrontational and incompetent politics and opening a new political transformation for the livelihood and future of the people." He also expressed, "I sincerely thank the Saeroun party members and supporters who made difficult decisions together to change Korean politics," and added, "I apologize for not being able to stay until the end."
With Assemblyman Kim's departure, Saeroun Mirae became an extra-parliamentary party. Saeroun Mirae was founded ahead of the April 10 general election in February, led by former Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon and Assemblyman Kim. In the election, only Assemblyman Kim secured one seat in the Sejong City Gap constituency.
