On the 31st, the National Police Agency introduced the incident that took place on a road in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, on their official YouTube channel under the title "The construction vehicle is now mine." In the video, a man who appeared to be intoxicated staggers, climbs into a nearby truck, and naturally drives away.
The truck he drove was parked by the roadside for road construction, with arrow guide lights installed on the roof. Workers who realized the theft belatedly tried to follow the truck but were unsuccessful. Eventually, the workers reported to 112, saying, "Someone took the truck."
The police predicted the truck's route, blocked all escape routes, and waited, but the truck did not appear. The police returned to the initial crime scene and searched the surroundings, discovering the truck parked on a nearby side road. Nearby, a man who appeared to be the suspect was sitting in a heavily intoxicated state.

Based on the victim's statement and secured closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, the police arrested the man on charges of theft and violation of the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving). However, during subsequent investigations, it was confirmed that the man did not have the intention of illegal acquisition of a vehicle (using or disposing of another person's property as his own), so he was sent to the prosecution on charges of 'illegal use of a vehicle.'
Netizens who saw this reacted with comments such as "He seems like someone who drinks and drives regularly," "Penalties for drunk driving should be strengthened," "Don't drink to the point where you can't handle the consequences," and "The police who responded quickly are admirable."
