According to the police on the 31st, at 11:57 a.m. that day, a report was received of road subsidence near the intersection by Eonju Station on Line 9 in Gangnam-gu. There were no casualties.
The police controlled vehicle traffic in the nearby lanes, and Gangnam District Office along with the Eastern Road Office conducted safety inspections at the site. Although it was determined not to be a sinkhole, since water and sewage pipes exist beneath the subsided area, the road is being controlled and a detailed investigation will be carried out.
A representative from the Eastern Road Office stated, "We plan to coordinate a detailed investigation together with agencies related to water and sewage."
Earlier, on the 29th, a ground subsidence measuring 6 meters wide, 4 meters long, and 2.5 meters deep occurred on Seongsan-ro in Yeonhui-dong, Seoul, causing serious injuries to two people who were in a vehicle. Additional road subsidence was discovered the following day.
