Car Owner with Vehicle Damage Reports to JTBC 'Sageon Banjang'
Police Say "Difficult to Punish Because It's Not a Traffic Accident"
The story of a car owner whose vehicle was absurdly damaged in a parking lot has come to light. A man pushed a double-parked car and collided with the informant's vehicle.
The story was reported on the 30th through JTBC’s "Sageon Banjang" (Incident Commander). The informant, the victim car owner, discovered scratch marks on the front part of his car while pulling it out from a parking lot in Seoul on the 10th.
When the informant checked the black box footage, it showed a man pushing a double-parked car to move it out of the way, damaging the informant’s vehicle in the process.

The man appeared to be fully aware of the accident as he inspected the damaged area, but he left the scene without taking any further action.
The informant immediately reported the incident to the police. However, the police responded that "it is difficult to consider this a traffic accident or hit-and-run, and without intent, punishment is difficult." The driver who damaged the vehicle also claimed, "I did push the car, but it rolled and hit the other car afterward," denying responsibility.
In the end, the informant had to cover repair costs of 6.1 million won through his own car insurance and deductible. The informant said, "I have not received any contact or apology from the driver," and added, "The insurance company plans to file a subrogation claim."
