A 20-Year-Old with a History of Indecent Acts, Caught Again in Front of Students in the Academy District

According to Yonhap News Agency, on the 31st, the Chuncheon District Court Wonju Branch (Criminal Division 1, Presiding Judge Kim Do-hyung) sentenced Mr. A (28), who was detained and prosecuted on charges of violating the Child Welfare Act (forcing, mediating, sexual harassment, etc. of a child), and public obscenity, to one year in prison. He was also ordered to complete a 40-hour sexual violence treatment program and was banned from employment at institutions related to children, adolescents, and persons with disabilities for three years.

Mr. A is accused of, around 6:10 p.m. on June 14, in front of an academy in Wonju, Gangwon Province, lowering his pants and underwear and committing an obscene act while watching a child coming out of a class under the supervision of the academy director. The charges also include committing the same type of obscene act behind a vehicle parked in front of the same academy in August last year while watching the passing director.

During the investigation, it was revealed that Mr. A had previously served a prison sentence for public obscenity and other offenses and had been released not long ago. At that time, he was sentenced to one year in prison in September 2022 for sending sexually humiliating texts and images to female adolescents and committing an obscene act at the intercity bus terminal.

Mr. A, who committed the crime again during the recidivism period, has appealed the current sentence.
