Business Agreement on 'Single-Use Plastic Reduction' with Companies in Icheon City

Participation of SK Hynix, Shinsegae Food, Samsung Welstory, CJ Freshway, The Day One Lab, and Hunid

On the 30th, Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province and the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute signed a business agreement to reduce single-use plastics with major companies in Icheon at the Daol Room in City Hall.

The agreement involved SK Hynix, The Day One Lab, Shinsegae Food, Samsung Welstory, CJ Freshway, and Hunid. Attendees at the signing ceremony included Kim Kyung-hee, Mayor of Icheon; Lim Hyun-jung, Director of the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute; Park Yong-geun, Vice President of SK Hynix; Lee Ju-bong, CEO of The Day One Lab; Won Jeong-hoon, Executive Director of Shinsegae Food; Jeong Young-heon, Executive Director of Samsung Welstory; Bae Soo-young, Executive Director of CJ Freshway; and Lee Ki-won, Managing Director of Hunid.


Through this agreement, the city plans to encourage the use of biodegradable lightweight plastic containers by collaborating with the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute and The Day One Lab to replace the single-use plastic packaging currently used by the SK Hynix cafeteria operator.


Mayor Kim said, "I hope this agreement becomes a model case of public-private cooperation in resource circulation and serves as an opportunity to reduce environmental pollution issues."
