The KOSPI closed with a slight increase. It rose nearly 1% during the session due to simultaneous net buying by foreigners and institutions, but the gain was given back as foreigners switched to net selling during the closing call auction.
On the 30th, the KOSPI closed at 2,674.31, up 12.03 points (0.45%) from the previous trading day.
The index opened at 2,676.72, up 0.54% from the previous day. In the early session, foreigners were net sellers, limiting movement. However, in the afternoon, foreigners switched to net buying, expanding the gains and pushing the index up to 2,686.51. But during the closing call auction, foreigners turned to net selling, ultimately giving back the gains.
By investor type, individuals and foreigners net sold 110.2 billion KRW and 379.3 billion KRW respectively. Meanwhile, institutions net bought 478.6 billion KRW.
By sector, pharmaceuticals and food & beverages rose 2.31% and 1.01% respectively. Medical precision, manufacturing, electrical & electronics, and securities sectors also saw slight gains. On the other hand, electricity & gas, steel & metals, telecommunications, and finance sectors declined.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics closed at 74,300 KRW, up 300 KRW (0.41%) from the previous day. SK Hynix, Samsung Biologics, Celltrion, and NAVER all rose more than 2%. Conversely, Hyundai Motor, KB Financial Group, Shinhan Financial Group, Samsung C&T, and Samsung SDI fell more than 1%.
On this day, 583 KOSPI stocks rose without any hitting the upper limit, 293 stocks declined without any hitting the lower limit, and 60 stocks remained unchanged.
The KOSDAQ closed at 767.66, up 11.62 points (1.54%) from the previous trading day.
By investor type, foreigners and institutions net bought 188.8 billion KRW and 10.1 billion KRW respectively. Meanwhile, individuals sold 190 billion KRW.
By sector, pharmaceuticals rose 3.50%, and textiles & apparel jumped 2.52%. Metals, entertainment & culture, manufacturing, transportation, distribution, chemicals, non-metallic minerals, medical precision instruments, general electrical & electronics, transportation equipment parts, and machinery & equipment all rose more than 1%. Meanwhile, paper & wood sectors declined slightly.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Alteogen closed at 319,000 KRW, up 3,500 KRW (1.11%) from the previous day. HLB, Samchundang Pharmaceutical, and Silicon투 rose more than 5%, while Hugel, Celltrion Pharm, and HPSP rose more than 2%. Conversely, Rainbow Robotics fell 2.17%, and Classys declined 1.18%.
On this day, the KOSDAQ saw 1,147 stocks rise, including 3 stocks hitting the upper limit such as Curatis and Excel Therapeutics. 407 stocks declined without any hitting the lower limit, and 116 stocks remained unchanged.
