Yeosu City, 'Yeosu Bay Renaissance Comprehensive Development Plan' Report Meeting
Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong Orders "Increase Speed and Completeness"

Jeong Gi-myeong, the mayor of Yeosu City in Jeollanam-do, personally inspected the progress of the 'Yeosu Bay Renaissance Comprehensive Development Plan,' the largest pledge of the 8th local government administration.


According to the city on the 30th, Mayor Jeong held a 'Detailed Execution Plan Report Meeting for the Full-Scale Promotion of the Yeosu Bay Renaissance Comprehensive Development' on the 29th at the city hall conference room, attended by about 20 department heads including directors of relevant bureaus and divisions.

The report meeting was held to review the departmental promotion plans for each bay-specific execution task of the ongoing Yeosu Bay Renaissance project and to discuss improvements and supplements. The meeting was chaired by Mayor Jeong and proceeded in the order of overall reports, detailed execution plan reports, and discussions.


At the meeting, participants reaffirmed the vision and strategic goals of the Yeosu Bay Renaissance project and discussed 56 major representative execution tasks.


The representative execution tasks include ▲ establishment of the Yeojaman Dullegil Trail (Goheung~Boseong~Suncheon~Yeosu) and designation as a National Marine Ecological Park ▲ designation of Jangsum Bay Island Tourism Special Zone and establishment of an eco-friendly island mobility system ▲ construction of Gamak Bay Marina R&D Center and fostering a complex marine leisure tourism city ▲ designation of Yeosu Haeman International Conference Complex District and establishment of a workation activation system ▲ creation of a hydrogen city in Gwangyang Bay and transition of the petrochemical industrial complex to new industries.


Previously, to increase the feasibility of the Yeosu Bay Renaissance project, the city completed a month-long departmental consultation on 61 business tasks proposed in the final service, confirmed 56 execution tasks, and established detailed execution plans for 20 corresponding promotion departments.


In particular, some tasks such as the certification of the Jangsum Bay area including Sado, Chudo, and Nangdo as a National Geopark and the construction of a Beauty & Spa Wellness Center in Anpoli, Hwayang-myeon have already begun execution.


Jeong Gi-myeong, mayor of Yeosu City, said, “We plan to continue checking the achievement of results quarterly and inform citizens of the progress. We will accelerate the pace and completeness to advance Yeosu City's vision as ‘Namhaean Hub City, Beautiful Port Yeosu.’”
