Communication Management Function and Event App 'Y Box'
Added Features and Design Changes Reflecting MZ Opinions
KT announced on the 30th that it has revamped the 'Y Box' application (app), which offers communication management features such as data gifting and events for the MZ generation. Y Box is used by 1.9 million people.
The direction of this revamp reflects trend keywords selected by KT's university student marketing supporters, 'Y Futurists,' and images designed by 'Liz,' an artist from the youth artist group 'Y Artists,' have been applied throughout the app.
The newly added features include ▲ the 'Clover' reward function that grants raffle tickets when using the app and the participation game 'Raising Rabbits' ▲ a user-customized collection of preferences called 'Ydentity' ▲ and a consumer demand-based product sales feature called 'YSHOP Funding.'
First, the 'Clover' reward and 'Raising Rabbits' game are functions that provide missions and benefits within the app, reflecting the 2023 Y-trend keyword 'Jamtech' (fun + tech). When users perform activities such as attendance checks and comments within the app, they accumulate 'Clovers' as rewards, which can then be used to enter the 'Raising Rabbits' game event.
The second feature, 'Ydentity,' reflects the 2023 Y-trend keyword 'Shortfolio' (a characteristic of Generation Z lightly showcasing themselves on online platforms). Reflecting the trend of Generation Z exhibiting their tastes, the Y Box menu has been newly organized to allow users to view collections of interest content, events, products, and more.
The third feature, the 'YSHOP Funding' menu, reflects the crowdfunding consumption style favored by Generation Z, who enjoy direct participation. Products created in collaboration with popular intellectual properties (IPs) such as Y Artists will be introduced through 'YSHOP Funding.'
Additionally, Y Box has revamped its overall design with a convenient menu structure and a new user interface (UI), enhancing personalized functions such as customized events and communication benefit recommendations based on users' interests, preferences, and age.
To commemorate the revamp, KT is running an event until the 19th of next month in collaboration with Bangguseok Research Lab, offering a psychological test called the 'Sandokgi Test' using popular memes. Participants who share their test results on social networking services (SNS) will receive a Baedal Minjok gift certificate. An exclusive official product for 'YSHOP Funding' in collaboration with KT Rolster will also be launched soon.
Y Box can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store and is available to anyone regardless of their telecommunications provider. The Y Box data sharing and management features are available to KT subscribers.
Kim Young-geol, Executive Director of KT's Customer Business Division, said, "From the initial planning stage of this Y Box renewal, we considered trend keywords and actively communicated with Y Futurists university students and Y Artists, who represent the young target audience, to design the features. Through this communication, we will continue to provide benefits that users enjoy and appreciate."
