Jongno-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jeong Munheon) will operate a creative classroom program in collaboration with the Blue House Foundation and others starting in the second half of the year.
This is part of Jongno-gu's specialized education project, "Jongno Creative Classroom," which utilizes the expertise and infrastructure of local museums, art galleries, and companies. The focus is on developing educational content on various themes linked to local resources and the curriculum to foster students' creativity and broaden their horizons.
In the first half of the year, the program was conducted for about 2,000 students from 18 elementary, middle, and high schools in the district that expressed interest through a preliminary demand survey. In the second half of this year, creative education will be provided to approximately 2,300 students from 19 schools in collaboration with 17 institutions, including the Blue House Foundation, Rice Cake Museum, Hwanghakjeong National Archery Exhibition Hall, and Museum Kimchikan.
Among them, the new program "Blue Cheongwabyeol, Teens Exploration Team," presented together with the Blue House Foundation, adds a special touch as it is held at the Blue House. Students participate in theory classes and mission activities every Wednesday and Thursday, learning about the history and significance of the Blue House and the role of the president.
Additionally, Jongno-gu is preparing various creative education programs such as "Archery Experience" at the Hwanghakjeong National Archery Exhibition Hall and "Children's Kimchi School" at Museum Kimchikan.
Meanwhile, starting with Hyundai Engineering in 2021, Jongno-gu has signed creative education agreements with many local companies this year, including Mirae Asset Global Investments, DL E&C, Samhwa Paints, Museum Hanmi, Republic Sports, and Kim & Chang Social Contribution Committee.
Representative examples of "corporate-linked creative education" include color education by Samhwa Paints, financial education by Mirae Asset Global Investments, the animator project by DL E&C, and basketball classes by Republic Sports.
District Mayor Jeong Munheon stated, "Reflecting the characteristics of Jongno, where many museums and art galleries are located, we are promoting the creative classroom project and focusing on strengthening youth capabilities," adding, "We will continue to devote ourselves to meaningful educational projects that help students' dreams and growth."
