Mayor Park Hyungjun, Kim Kyunghoon, President of Google Korea, and Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Center for Creative Economy and Innovation to Attend
The city of Busan will hold the launch ceremony for Google's 'Startup School' at 4:30 PM on the 30th at the Busan Eurasia Platform.
Approximately 120 people will attend the ceremony, including Mayor Park Hyungjun, Kim Kyunghoon, President of Google Korea, Mike Kim, Head of Google Startup Campus Asia-Pacific, and officials from the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam Centers for Creative Economy & Innovation.
Beginning with opening remarks, a plaque of appreciation in the name of the Mayor of Busan will be presented to Google Korea, which has maintained a strong partnership with the city since the opening of the Google-supported startup space 'B Startup Station' in 2021.
Following this, Mike Kim will introduce the 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) Startup School' program. There will also be a signing performance wishing for the 'AI Startup School Boat', a model boat launched in Busan, to continue its journey to Ulsan, Gyeongnam, and beyond, reaching out to the world.
The signed model boat will be displayed at the event venue, 'B Startup Station'.
After the launch ceremony, the 'Startup School' education program will begin at 5 PM. This year, the program is titled 'AI Startup School with Busan City' and will be held once a week for a total of six sessions from the 30th to October 4th at the Busan Eurasia Platform.
The education program will start with a lecture on 'Entrepreneurship Workshop' by Monica Kang, founder of InnovatorsBox, followed by expert lectures by Google employees and CEOs of AI-based startups on topics such as three leadership principles for success and marketing using generative AI. All lectures are offered free of charge each week.
Applications for the program are being accepted in advance for each session on the official website, and on-site registration is also available on the day of the event.
Notably, this year the program will be broadcast live online through the city's official channel 'BusanTube', providing aspiring entrepreneurs and startup companies in nearby regions such as Ulsan and Gyeongnam with the opportunity to participate. Until last year, the program was only offered in person.
In addition, those who complete the on-site program will receive benefits such as preferential consideration in some of Busan City's startup support programs in 2025 and the awarding of a 'Google Startup Campus' social badge, supporting the practical growth of aspiring and early-stage entrepreneurs.
Startup support programs include the 2025 Busan City Technology Startup Incubation Support Program, the 2025 Busan Startup Idea Competition, and the TIOOM co-working space.
The Google Startup Campus social badge is a digital badge awarded to those who attend all sessions of the AI Startup School in person, and can be displayed on social media profiles or resumes.
Mayor Park Hyungjun stated, "As Google's 'Startup School', a leading educational initiative in the field of artificial intelligence, expands from Busan to Ulsan and Gyeongnam, expectations are even higher. As Busan focuses its capabilities in various fields to establish itself as a 'global hub city', we will further strengthen our collaboration with Google to advance and innovate the global startup ecosystem."
Google's 'Startup School' was launched for the first time in Korea in April 2023 in Busan, with a total of 1,523 participants joining the program.
