According to U.S. political media outlet The Hill and others on the 29th (local time), election authorities in the battleground states of Michigan and Wisconsin decided on the 27th to keep Kennedy's name on the November presidential ballots despite his request.

The Michigan election authorities explained that the Natural Law Party, which nominated Kennedy as their candidate, had already held a convention and selected electors pledged to Kennedy, and since the primary period had passed, they could not select new electors. In Wisconsin, although Republican election commissioners agreed to Kennedy's request, Democratic commissioners cited state law, arguing that a candidate registered with the election commission cannot be removed from the ballot unless the candidate dies.

Earlier, on the 23rd, Kennedy announced he was suspending his campaign and said he would have his name removed from the ballots in 10 battleground states so that his supporters could vote for former President Trump. It was particularly noted that Kennedy was siphoning more votes from Trump than from Vice President Harris, raising speculation that his withdrawal could influence the outcome in battleground states. However, with Kennedy failing to remove his name from the Michigan and Wisconsin ballots, there is a possibility of some wasted votes.

Currently, Vice President Harris and former President Trump are in a tight race in the battleground states.

According to a poll conducted by The Hill and Emerson College from the 25th to the 28th among 700 to 800 likely voters in seven battleground states, each candidate held a lead within the margin of error in three states, and one state showed a tie (state margin of error ±2.8 to ±3.6 percentage points). Vice President Harris led in Georgia (49% to 48%), Michigan (50% to 47%), and Nevada (49% to 48%). Former President Trump led in Arizona (50% to 47%), North Carolina (49% to 48%), and Wisconsin (49% to 48%). In Pennsylvania, both candidates were tied at 48%. The leads in states where each candidate was ahead were within the margin of error, indicating a very close race.
