Icheon-si Selected as an Excellent Case in the Multilingual Category at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's 'Address Policy Promotion Contest'

High Praise for Chinese and Thai Road Name Address Guidance

On the 29th, Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it was selected as an excellent case in the 'Multilingual Promotion' category at the '2024 Address Policy Promotion Best Practices Contest' hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety received a total of 104 entries in five categories?▲videos ▲publications ▲multilingual promotional materials ▲autonomous building number plates ▲apartment complexes and non-apartment residential areas?from 17 cities and provinces. After a first round of expert evaluation and a second round of public voting, 14 outstanding cases were selected by category.

Icheon City produced promotional materials in Thai and Chinese that included explanations of the concept of road name addresses and correct notation methods, how to apply for detailed addresses, the concept of address information facilities, and how to report safety issues to the Address Information Facility Safety Report Center. These efforts were recognized for helping foreign residents in Icheon better understand road name addresses and improving the convenience of address-related daily life.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to publish the best promotional cases on the Address Information website and share the address policy promotional materials with local governments and public institutions nationwide.

A city official stated, "We will continue to develop various policies to provide address information that satisfies our citizens."
