President Yoon Suk-yeol said on the 29th regarding the controversy over the prosecution's special treatment investigation into First Lady Kim Keon-hee's luxury handbag allegations, "When I was a prosecutor, I also went to the former president's wife and former first lady's residences to conduct investigations," adding, "There is no set way of conducting investigations."

At a press conference held at the Yongsan Presidential Office on the same day, President Yoon explained, "If a warrant is issued and the investigation is conducted forcibly, then it would be done that way, but all investigations are, in principle, voluntary. Therefore, I think the method and location can be determined considering various factors."

This statement implies that the prosecution's decision not to summon First Lady Kim and to conduct a private investigation at the Presidential Security Service building was not a special favor.

President Yoon said, "I also visited private residences during my time as a prosecutor," but added, "However, I think it is appropriate not to comment on investigative dispositions. Especially when it concerns family matters, it is even more appropriate not to comment."

Regarding the prosecution's decision to not indict First Lady Kim on the grounds of 'no charges,' he said, "Please keep in mind that as president, I have refrained from commenting on quasi-judicial investigation outcomes or court verdicts."

On the establishment of the Second Secretariat to support First Lady Kim's activities, he said, "It is currently being prepared," adding, "There is no suitable place. Even abroad, and even at the Blue House nearby, the president's spouse has a spacious area, but Yongsan does not have such a space."

He continued, "So, once a suitable location is prepared, I think the Secretariat will begin its work in earnest."

Regarding the appointment of a special inspector to oversee the president's spouse, relatives within the fourth degree, and senior officials such as chief secretaries, he said, "I am to appoint the inspector if a recommendation comes from the National Assembly. If the National Assembly decides in any way, I will appoint accordingly."
