The International Geological Congress, held every four years, is the most prestigious event in the field of geological sciences, hosted by the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS), and is also called the "Olympics of Geology."

This year, the event is being held on the largest scale ever, with more than 7,000 geoscientists and others from around the world participating, presenting over 3,000 research findings and hosting more than 200 exhibitions. The opening ceremony takes place on the 26th, followed by the closing ceremony on the 30th.

The Pukyongosaurus exhibition is one of the events open to the public. To commemorate the 200th anniversary of dinosaur research this year, it has been moved from Pukyong National University to BEXCO for display during the congress period.

Pukyongosaurus is a herbivorous dinosaur, estimated to be 15 meters in length, whose fossils were excavated and restored by the environmental geology team of Pukyong National University in 1998 in Geumseong-myeon, Hadong-gun, Gyeongnam. It was named after the university, "Pukyong," and when written in English, the connecting vowel "o" is added before "saurus," making it read as "Pukyongosaurus."
