The police have imposed travel bans on six individuals, including a woman in her 20s who posted a video of a 36-week pregnancy termination (abortion) surgery on YouTube, as well as the surgeon involved.

Police impose travel bans on six people including YouTuber and surgeon involved in '36-week abortion' case

On the 27th, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Criminal Mobile Unit announced that YouTuber A and the surgeon who performed the operation, along with one anesthesiologist and three assistant medical staff, were placed under travel bans shortly after being booked in mid-month.

Earlier, the police charged A and the surgeon with murder, and the anesthesiologist and three assistant medical personnel with aiding and abetting murder.

Previously, at the end of June, a woman posted a video on her YouTube channel showing that she underwent an abortion surgery at 36 weeks of pregnancy, sparking controversy. Since the Constitutional Court ruled the abortion law unconstitutional in April 2019, abortion itself is no longer illegal under criminal law; however, if medical staff caused the death of the baby after removing it from the mother's body, murder charges can be applied.
