Lotte Wellfood has unveiled new looks for ‘Kani’ and ‘Choni,’ the official characters of Kancho, along with introducing three new characters. To increase brand familiarity and secure a broader consumer target audience, the company has renewed the characters and launched full-scale character marketing.
To enhance the utilization of the existing characters Kani and Choni, the introduction of new characters was accompanied by the development of distinct personalities, relationships between characters, and background stories. The storyline unfolds around Kani and Choni, who live on a barren Earth where love has disappeared, meeting new friends and embarking on a journey to find the recipe for love in the mysterious Choco Land.
Kani, a curious and mischievous boy, is always busy and has many things to do because he feels compelled to do what he wants. Choni, a strong girl with a warm heart, is usually gentle and considerate but cannot tolerate injustice. The designs of Kani and Choni were partially updated to reflect the latest trends while preserving their original identities as much as possible.
Additionally, three new friendly and cute characters?‘Choco,’ ‘Ruby,’ and ‘Chobi’?were introduced, and the diversified character lineup will be actively used in both online and offline promotional content. Choco is a dog raised by Kani who cannot eat chocolate but loves the sweet smell of it. Ruby, living in Choco Land, is a heart fairy full of passion who wants to share warm love in a cold world. Chobi, Ruby’s younger sibling, is a clingy character who annoyingly follows Ruby around to help find love.
Since its launch in 1984, one of the reasons Kancho has been loved for such a long time is not only its taste but also the effect of its characters. From the end of August, the cuter versions of Kani and Choni, along with their new friends, will be featured on Kancho snacks. Moreover, various themed packages with charming illustrations for places like baseball stadiums, amusement parks, and campuses will be released, offering not only visual enjoyment but also an experience of shared empathy.
