Gyeongju Youth Choir Wins Lux Aeterna Grand Prize
Shinju Singers and Yangsan Youth Choir Receive Top Excellence Award
The 12th Yangsan National Youth Choir Competition, hosted and organized by Yangsan City and the Yangsan Youth Center, was successfully concluded on the 24th at the Yangsan Culture and Arts Center Grand Theater, with over 800 participants and spectators in attendance.
This year's competition featured 10 choir teams comprised of elementary, middle, and high school students from Yangsan, Busan, Geoje, Gyeongju, and Ulsan, who engaged in a passionate contest. They presented beautiful harmonies and moving performances to the audience, receiving enthusiastic applause.
In particular, the Gyeongju City Youth Choir (Gyeongju City Child and Youth Division) was honored with the Grand Prize for their performances of "Lux Aeterna" (composed by Michelle Roueche) and "La Bamba" (arranged by Jang Jeonga). The Shinju Singers (Shinju Middle School) and the Yangsan City Youth Choir (affiliated with the Yangsan Youth Center) were awarded the Excellence Prize.
A city official stated, "Now in its 12th year, the Yangsan National Youth Choir Competition is becoming a nationwide music festival thanks to the active participation and passion of young people each year," and added, "Yangsan City plans to continue developing the choir competition to encourage healthy cultural and artistic activities among youth."
