Provincial Council Members: "Pledge to Cooperate on Key Issues such as Securing Provincial Funds"
On the 26th, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held a meeting at City Hall, inviting provincial council members to share key municipal issues and strengthen cooperation for securing provincial funding as part of efforts to enhance communication in the latter half of the 8th popularly elected administration.
Hong Nampyo, Changwon Special City Mayor, Communicates and Cooperates through Meeting with Provincial Assembly Members.
Seventeen provincial council members attended the event, including Jeong Kyuhun, Chairman of the Council Operations Committee, Baek Taehyun, Chairman of the Planning and Administration Committee, and Lee Chanho, Chairman of the Education Committee. They engaged in in-depth discussions on the innovation strategies and major proposed projects that outline the direction for the latter half of the city administration.
The core of the administrative direction for the latter half is to accelerate innovation-driven growth strategies and create tangible changes.
While in the first half, Changwon focused on laying the groundwork for the next 50 years by attracting National Industrial Complex 2.0, newly designating the Digital Masan Free Trade Zone, reorganizing district unit plans, and overhauling city bus routes, the plan for the latter half is to expand citizen-oriented projects in addition to the innovation-driven growth strategies, aiming to bring about real changes that citizens can feel in their daily lives.
To achieve this, it is crucial to secure momentum for advancing key projects linked with provincial administration. Accordingly, the city requested active support from provincial council members for major proposed projects such as the International Logistics Special Zone initiative, implementation of Local Road No. 67, environmental maintenance of national and local roads, the Byeongam District urban regeneration project application, construction of Changwon Municipal Art Museum, and construction of Changwon Museum. The city also requested much interest and support for citizen-oriented projects currently being identified in each of the five district offices.
Mayor Hong stated, "Securing provincial funding despite challenging financial conditions was possible thanks to the support of the council members present here. Moving forward, the city administration in the latter half will focus on producing visible results so that citizens can truly experience meaningful changes," adding, "We will not only have meetings like today but will also continue to create opportunities for ongoing communication," emphasizing his commitment to cooperation.
The provincial council members in attendance said, "Through this meeting, we were able to gain a deeper understanding of the direction for the latter half of the city administration and share our opinions. We promise to actively respond together to resolve local issues and secure provincial funding, reflecting the various opinions shared today."
Meanwhile, Mayor Hong is accelerating both internal and external communication efforts, following up on the July policy meeting with local National Assembly members and the city council-government consultative meeting, by holding this meeting with provincial council members.
