IBK Industrial Bank, Scholarship Awarded to Schools of Taekwondo Athletes for Paris Olympics

IBK Industrial Bank announced on the 26th that it celebrated the achievements of the taekwondo team who excelled at the '2024 Paris Olympics' and awarded scholarships to middle and high schools attended by the participating athletes to nurture future taekwondo talents.

At this Paris Olympics, taekwondo saw a total of four athletes compete, all advancing to at least the semifinals, achieving outstanding results. Park Tae-jun and Kim Yu-jin won gold medals, upholding the pride of the sport's country of origin, while Lee Da-bin earned a bronze medal. Although Seo Geon-woo narrowly missed a medal, he received applause for his dedicated performance.

Since June, IBK has been an official partner of the Korea Taekwondo Association, providing sponsorship funds to support the development of youth and national teams, as well as demonstration performance groups, contributing to the advancement of taekwondo.

Kim Sung-tae, the bank president, said, “We hope this scholarship support will help students who dream of becoming national taekwondo representatives,” adding, “We will continue steady support for the development of taekwondo and other less popular sports.”

Meanwhile, IBK operates shooting and Altos volleyball teams to promote sports development and has consistently sponsored less popular sports such as weightlifting, wrestling, tennis, baduk, and ssireum.
