Prepared to Resolve Local Issues Related to Balbadak Park... District Mayor Oh Eon-seok Attends for Direct Communication
Proposals Include Reallocation of Dobong Environmental Education Center Space and Reconstruction of Balbadak Park Pavilion
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) held a meeting with representatives from the Dobong Environmental Education Center and Supssokae at the Dobong-gu Office CR Hall on August 21.
This meeting was organized to address various local issues related to Balbadak Park. To facilitate direct communication with stakeholders, the mayor of Dobong-gu and district staff attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed ▲ changes to the operation plan of the Dobong Environmental Education Center ▲ strengthening and maintenance plans for the ecological cultural library Supssokae ▲ creation of a community space for residents ▲ reconstruction of the pavilion ▲ maintenance of the loess road vinyl greenhouse.
Balbadak Park has long been a site of continuous complaints from residents. Despite being a place frequently used by many residents, there was a lack of resting spaces. Accordingly, the district proposed solutions to address residents' complaints while maintaining the functions of the Dobong Environmental Education Center through the meeting.
First, the district proposed reallocating the Dobong Environmental Education Center space as a way to continue environmental education. The plan includes transforming the 'Dobong Environmental Education Center Annex' into a small-scale green welfare center (tentatively named: Balbadak Healing Center) to be used as a community space for residents, and using the 'Flowering Forest Village' as the 'Dobong Environmental Education Center Second Training Room.'
It was announced that the functions of Supssokae, the originally planned relocation site for the center within the ecological cultural library, will be strengthened. A district official stated at the meeting, "We will carry out maintenance of outdoor play facilities and surrounding areas, and create spaces where environmental education activists can also utilize the Supssokae area."
Additionally, through the meeting, it was revealed that the pavilion within Balbadak Park will be reconstructed into a 'Generational Empathy Healing Park (tentatively named: Balbadak (Hak)dungji Park)' where residents of all generations can rest and stay, and the 'Loess Road Vinyl Greenhouse' will be refurbished by installing transparent awning tent materials and colored supports.
In response, representatives from the Dobong Environmental Education Center and Supssokae expressed satisfaction with the proposed plans and conveyed their gratitude to Mayor Oh Eon-seok of Dobong-gu for communicating with residents to resolve local issues.
Mayor Oh Eon-seok of Dobong-gu said, "Through this meeting, I was able to gain a deeper understanding of the efforts of those active in the community. I will continue to communicate frequently with residents and create better policies."
