Death Due to Traffic Accident Before First Childbirth
On the 22nd, a taxi in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, collided consecutively with a parked tourist bus and a running compact car, resulting in the death of one taxi passenger. On the 24th, Media Today reported that the deceased was PD Joo-hyung Lee (35), who had participated in directing major entertainment programs such as "Three Meals a Day" and "New Journey to the West."

On the night of the 22nd, around midnight, PD Lee boarded a taxi after finishing overtime work and was involved in an accident around 0:25 a.m. on World Cup-ro, heading from Guryong Intersection in Sangam-dong toward the World Cup Stadium. The taxi collided consecutively with a parked tourist bus and a running compact car.
PD Lee died at the scene, and the taxi driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. The compact car driver is reported to have no life-threatening injuries, and the bus was not in operation with no passengers on board.
After the news of PD Lee's passing was announced, a wave of condolences swept through the broadcasting industry. Seven PDs from "New Journey to the West," including Na Young-seok, Shin Hyo-jung, Park Hyun-yong, and Yoon In-hoe, stated, "PD Joo-hyung Lee was a diligent junior who took greater responsibility than anyone else for his tasks and always gave his best until the very end. We will remember his place, where the lights were always the first to turn on, and where he meticulously checked and organized everything needed for the program. We were happy to work with PD Joo-hyung Lee on 'New Journey to the West.'"
It is known that PD Lee was expecting his first child in December. He joined CJ ENM tvN as a production PD in 2016 and participated in directing entertainment programs such as "Three Meals a Day: Gochang Edition," "New Journey to the West" Seasons 2 and 3, "Great Escape 4," "Korean Monster," "Accidental Adult," and "Comedy Big League."
In July of last year, he moved to Borderless Film, a video production company acquired by Coupang Play, and participated in the production of the sports documentary "Full Count," which aired on Disney Plus (Disney+).
