Gunsan Coast Guard "Get a Free Inspection for Water Leisure Equipment"

On the 31st, Leisure Equipment Inspection at Bieung Port Marine Boy Scouts

Gunsan Coast Guard Station (Chief Park Sang-wook) announced on the 23rd that it will conduct free inspections of powered water leisure equipment on the 31st from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Marine Youth Corps mooring dock (slipway) in Bieung Port, Osikdo-dong, Gunsan-si, Jeonbuk.

This inspection will involve the Marine Accident Prevention Center of the Korea Maritime Safety Authority (KOMSA) headquarters and specialized leisure equipment repair companies. Detailed inspections of the engine, engine oil, throttle lever, battery, and electrical systems will be conducted free of charge.

The Gunsan Coast Guard explained the background of the inspection, stating, "With the autumn jjukkumi (webfoot octopus) season approaching, the number of water leisure participants is increasing. Consequently, the possibility of safety accidents due to equipment malfunctions such as engine failure and propeller damage, caused by a lack of understanding of the equipment, is also rising."

In addition, the Coast Guard will provide expert leisure equipment management consultations and accident prevention education to help water leisure participants prevent and respond to safety accidents on their own.

The free inspection will be operated by a time-slot reservation system through social networking services (SNS) to minimize congestion. Safety supplies necessary for leisure activities will also be provided to those who make advance reservations.

Reservations can be made until the 28th. Applications can be submitted via the KakaoTalk open chat room "Gunsan Coast Guard Water Leisure Activity Communication Room" and the Naver BAND "Water Leisure Triple S," both operated by the Gunsan Coast Guard.

Park Sang-wook, Chief of the Gunsan Coast Guard Station, said, "During the autumn fishing season, the activity of leisure equipment increases, and accidents caused by equipment inspection failures frequently occur. We hope this free inspection will serve as an opportunity to prevent safety accidents."
