KOSPI Ends Slightly Lower Near 2700 as Individuals and Foreigners Sell

The KOSPI closed slightly lower around the 2700 mark due to selling by individuals and foreigners.

On the 23rd, the KOSPI closed at 2701.69, down 5.98 points (0.22%) from the previous trading day.

By investor type, individuals and foreigners net sold 103.2 billion KRW and 295.2 billion KRW respectively. Meanwhile, institutions net bought 344.9 billion KRW.

By sector, construction rose 1.69%. In addition, non-metallic minerals, electric and gas utilities, and telecommunications increased by more than 1%. On the other hand, medical precision fell 1.71%. Food and beverages, electrical and electronics, steel and metals also closed down more than 1%.

Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics closed at 77,700 KRW, down 600 KRW (0.77%) from the previous trading day. SK Hynix fell 2.93%. POSCO Holdings also dropped 2.02%. Conversely, Samsung C&T rose 2.04%. Hyundai Motor, Kia, and Shinhan Financial Group also increased by more than 1%.

On this day, Hanwha Galleria Auh recorded the upper price limit on the KOSPI, with 429 stocks rising and 432 stocks falling without hitting the lower price limit. 76 stocks were unchanged.

The KOSDAQ closed at 773.26, down 0.21 points (0.03%) from the previous trading day.

By investor type, foreigners net bought 103.3 billion KRW. Meanwhile, individuals and institutions net sold 59.3 billion KRW and 10.3 billion KRW respectively.

By sector, other services rose 3.14%. Pharmaceuticals, metals, and medical precision equipment showed slight gains. Conversely, finance, chemicals, general electrical and electronics, and textiles and apparel fell more than 1%.

Among the top market capitalization stocks, EcoPro BM closed at 174,000 KRW, down 6,900 KRW (3.81%) from the previous trading day. EcoPro fell 2.69%. Enchem dropped 4.38%. On the other hand, Alteogen surged 9.00%. Classys rose 5.86%. HLB and Ligacembio also closed up more than 4%.

On the KOSDAQ, four stocks including Senizen and ICTK hit the upper price limit, with 530 stocks rising. Meanwhile, 1,034 stocks fell without hitting the lower price limit, and 105 stocks closed unchanged.
